Did you know that Anderson Shumaker offers in-house testing on our forgings? While our forgings and ring rolling represent the best in high quality products, they wouldn’t be the best if it wasn’t for our in-house testing services. Usually, testing is the final step in manufacturing. Consequently, it’s a critical for cost-savings. Most importantly, by making sure our materials deliver to our promised specifications, we save our customers both time and money.
Anderson Shumaker offers both destructive and non-destructive testing. Therefore, let’s learn a little about each method.
What is In-House Destructive Testing?
Destructive testing is the process of inspecting a part to determine conformance with design and process requirements. This requires sample testing. To clarify, samples are used to ensure that high reliability parts or devices are produced to required standards. As a result, these samples determine if a product meets a customer’s end-use needs. Destructive physical analysis is used to uncover process defects for troublesome production lot problems. Because we are an ISO 2001:2015 certified company, we work to AMS, ASTM, military, and private customer specifications. We offer the following destructive testing:
- Charpy Impact Testing
- Chemical Analysis
- Failure Analysis
- Hardness Testing
- Macrostructure Testing
- Metallurgical Evaluation
- Stress Rupture Testing
- Tensile Testing
What Is In-House Non-Destructive Testing?
Non-destructive testing seeks to find material flaws by using various methods to “look into” a part’s structural integrity. This is done without changing the part. For example, common methods for non-destructive testing include:
- Liquid penetrant testing
- Magnetic particle
- Ultrasonic
- X-Ray
Because testing is critical to make sure products are forged to specifications, we make sure our testing is extensive and reliable. In short, our in-house testing services ensures our customers getting the exact product they need.
