Did you know that heat treating plays a significant role in the forging process? Our heat treatment department optimizes our products’ mechanical and physical properties. While one might think heating only hardens metal, these treatments can also soften metal. This allows for processes such as deep drawing, cold forging, and machining. When a product needs increased strength and wear resistance, Anderson Shumaker employs hardening and tempering treatments. Heat treating can also develop hard surfaces with ductile base materials. For all these reasons and more, our heat treatment department is an important part of our forging operations.

Keeping this vital step in our hands not only saves our customers time and money, but our electronically controlled furnaces ensure both temperature and accuracy. This gives Anderson Shumaker’s forge shop employees control on variables and documentation.
