While most people ring in the New Year with fireworks and champagne, we prefer to ringing it in with a different type of “fireworks.” Our team is back in the shop, already forging and filling 2019 orders.
Did you know that rolled rings are an Anderson Shumaker specialty? We forge rings 3” OD up to 72” OD, and up to 10,000 lbs. We work in alloy steel, aluminum, carbon steel, nickel alloys, stainless steel, and titanium. Even more, our shop can forge in hard-to-find materials (request a quote for more information).
Anderson Shumaker’s ring rolling process is seamless. First, we cut a hole in the material. Then, the material is rolled into a thin ring. Our process improves the ring’s concentricity. As a result, rolled rings have smooth surfaces, unlike plate burnouts or butt-welded rings. Check out this YouTube video to watch an Anderson Shumaker 316 stainless rolled ring.
Furthermore, rolled rings ensure grain flow and create excellent strength and resistance to impact and fatigue. By not needing an inner diameter bored out, rolling rings saves time, material, and money. Our CNC programmed machines ensure perfect repeatability. Additionally, we offer some of the fastest industry lead-times. Many open-die forged rings can ship days after an order. Our clients can be confident of the quality and perfection of Anderson Shumaker rolled rings. Now that’s something we can all celebrate!

And stay tuned: a few of Anderson Shumaker’s rolled rings are making their way to Europa, one of the four Galilean moons orbiting Jupiter. We’ll post more about that exciting project as it develops.
